Why I Went Paperless

Why I Went Paperless

  1. This is a really worthwhile read and yes, it works. It is important to have all the data backed up with three versions. I had 2 hard drives fail in the same week but was able to recover the data from the third one. That could have been a big disaster.
In no time there is so much information gathered and spread throughout the house, file cabinets, desk tops. Searching is a time waster for paper copies. If it is in the digital format, searching requires typing in the search bar (or spotlight) and in under a minute, one can find that data.
I have been scanning all summer since June. Well over 50,000 pages scanned to pdf files. Now they are easily searched and save so much time. Specific pages can be attached to my genealogy database as reference or copied and pasted into the database. The attachment is exactly the same as attaching a photo.
