“Let the Battle Begin” or How to find military databases on the internet. by Virginia Britten, April 2011



Overload set in the minute I entered these three words on the Google search engine, “ Military Research Databases”. I could not believe the information out there that has been posted online since I last searched this topic.

I found pension papers for my Revolutionary patriot that I had paid good money for in the 90’s right there online for everyone to see. This was marvelous. I found my great grandfather John S. Perkins Civil War Draft Registration card, and I was not aware of that database.

Soon, I was overwhelmed with data and places to find data. I will tell you about a few of them today and hope you will be lucky in finding your ancestor’s military records or the location of those records.
