Genealogy Interest Group

The Genealogy Special Interest Group meets on the third Friday of the month from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W. Fletcher Ave, Tampa where there is free parking. All are invited to attend.

This month, October 15th at 930, Scott L. Peeler, President of the Brandon Area History & Genealogy Society will show a CD about the Cherokee Indians

In November, Debbe Hagner will speak about using newspapers and periodicals in your research.

October PCGS Membership Meeting

Other than DNA, have you thought about the Study of EARS?

What do cousins have in common? They carry the genes from two sets of parents, four sets of grandparents, and eight sets of great grandparents, and so on. Why do cousins look similar? Some even act the same, carry the same features, and even have the same family "slang". Is it because of all these genes being passed on?

Come with us in the October Pasco County Genealogical Society meeting when Virginia Britten will explore the family traits that some family genes produce. She will use the four generation study of ears from the Britten family to prove this point.

If you have a similar family traits that have been generational, please come and share your story with our members.

At this meeting there will be a brief program on Computer Use. George Varney will tell us How to use USB flash in Genealogy Research. Learn how to save what you find on websites to your storage device or how to use it to store data.

Also, a program on how to use Passport Applications in researching your ancestors. New information from the U.S. National Archives & Records Administration will be presented on what is available and how to access it. Passports can be an excellent source of genealogical information.

Meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month, September through May at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 9016 Ft. King Rd. Dade City from 10am to 12 noon. Mark you calendars now as the next meeting will be October 9, 2010.
