Invitation from George Morgan to PCGS

Just received this information from George G. Morgan about Tampa Genealogy Society's special day and we want to pass it along to you members. This would be a perfect opportunity to see what new databases that are available.

Join us for a great day at our favorite library! We invite you to our
second annual Research-a-Rama on Saturday, October 2, 2010, from 10:30 AM
to 4:00 PM at the John F. Germany Public Library, 900 N. Ashley Drive,
Tampa, Florida.

We'll begin with a short business meeting in the Auditorium, followed with
something for everyone. Library staff will greet you in the Computer Lab on
the 3rd Floor West (upstairs from the Genealogy Department) and will
demonstrate of all of the library's genealogical databases. You can also
take one of several tours of the library's superb genealogy collection and
learn what treasures you may have missed. FGS members will also offer
instructional help about how to getting started with genealogy or how you
can brush up your skills on things you may have forgotten. They'll also
provide advice for breaking through your brick walls. You'll also have
plenty of time to research on your own and socialize with your friends and
make new ones.

Don't miss this great event!

Free ancestry.com weekend

If you're one of the lucky ducks with a three-day Labor Day weekend coming up, you'll be able to get quite a bit of research accomplished with the temporarily free immigration records on Ancestry.com and Ancestry.ca.

If you've been wanting to beef up your know-how in a particular area of research, check out the offerings for our next Family Tree University session, starting up Sept. 13. Also this week, we have resources for tracing Swiss roots, clues for a reader who inherited a box of unidentified photos, news on Family Tree Maker 2011 and more.

Free Immigration Records Through Labor Day!

This weekend would be a good time to log some hours searching for your ancestors' immigration records. Subscription genealogy site Ancestry.com and its sister site Ancestry.ca are making their immigration collections free for a short time.

Attention to all members.

This week we all received an email supposedly from Cathy Vance, pleading for money to release her from her turmoil in England.
Attention: it is a scam email, do not open or respond to it.

Be alert for other scam emails as you open your inbox everyday. The hackers are out there working very hard to get our money away from us. Do not let them. Please be careful.
