Spain's Ministry of Culture is announcing that there are 121 cultural online databases available online through their website, http://hispana.mcu.es. Many of these online collections have been available for years, but now they available together in one place (portal.)
This is a boon to those of us with Spanish ancestors. I have found download-able images of documents about or written by my ancestors centuries ago. Also some of the libraries (bibliotecas) have digitized books identifying my ancestors in terms of occupation and family ties.
BE FOREWARNED: much of this is in Spanish but armed with a good Spanish Dictionary and Google Translate,
You will not be finding anything like this at ancestry.com anytime soon.
